Post HELP!!!!!! 55-56 case split

Please don't ask me how I got myself into this but I sure need some HELP!!!!!

I have in my shop a 55-56 Allstate Vespa and it needs a complete engine rebuild. I'm in the process of splitting the cases but I'm stuck (no pun intended). Everything I've found so far on Internet searches show removing the selector box cover but the videos/photos I'm seeing don't look like what I have.

I'm not new to a wrench....or two wheels, but this is my first go around with a Vespa and I know enough to not force something I'm not sure of....so the search continues.

I've contacted a parts vendor but this is his busy time of the year and he pretty much doesn't want to do anything but sell me parts....and trying to get him via email to answer questions is almost useless.

Anybody out there want to help a fellow out???? I have everything stripped except on the drive/gear/axle side where I only have the kick starter and the brake drum (complete)off.

What's next?????? Will the cases come apart with out taking the selector off??? if not how do I do that....I see no bolts. Are the bearings just tight and I need to add heat???

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well....I got the selector off. Finally cleaned it off enough (it's a mess) and found the drive pin. Punched the pin out and the selector came off. Removed two flat head screws and the plate came off. The shaft came out but the lord only knows how I'll get it back in...strange looking piece.

Now the cases are still not wanting to budge. They have broken apart but not much and there seems to be no more movement. Do I need to remove something it the kickstart mech????? That's about all the could be holding it....unless the bearings are just too tight. I don't want to spend $60+ dollars on a case puller....if I don't have to. This will be the one and only one of these I'm going to work on....if I don't kill myself first.

HELP me split these cases....it can't be that hard.

Wow. Nothing but crickets. I just picked up a 150 Super and will need some technical advice. Is there a place in the US to get parts and assistance?
